Conserve Your Land
Conservation Tools
River Fields uses two primary land protection tools: conservation easements and fee simple ownership. We undertake this work through donations and occasionally through purchase. These conservation methods are ones used by over 1,700 land conservation organizations nationwide. We work with willing landowners on a voluntary basis.
A conservation easement is a legal agreement whereby a landowner gives up development rights in their property and River Fields agrees to hold those development rights in perpetuity to ensure that they are not exercised. A fee donation is the gift of all ownership rights in the property to River Fields.
