SOLD OUT! Fall tree walk at Wolf Pen Farm with Renee Frith
Coming up on Sunday Oct. 20 from 10 a.m.-noon you can follow Renee Frith — the Director of Horticulture and Sustainable Landscapes at Bernheim Forest and Arboretum and self-proclaimed petter of plants – as she explores the gorgeously biodiverse forest of Wolf Pen Branch Mill Farm. Climate change makes it tricky sometimes to schedule a fall color walk because of the unpredictability of fall weather patterns. But don’t worry: you won’t just learn about fall color and the science behind it – you’ll learn about how to identify trees in all seasons, how they heal from injuries, and other fascinating topics.
With Renee, you never walk in the same forest twice – it’s always a new journey. Add to that the experience of exploring a site not usually open to the public, and you have the perfect recipe for a special experience. The program is free for River Fields members and $20 for others; reservations are required. Registration is limited to 25 people.
There will be TWO walks due to demand!
Walk One: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Walk Two: 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
To join the waitlist, please email: Ashley@RiverFields.org
Good to know: The fall tree walk will be about two hours and participants should wear weather-appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring a refillable water bottle and a snack. The event will be rescheduled only in the event of extremely inclement weather such as a thunderstorm. Restrooms are not available onsite. Photography is encouraged.
Accessibility: The walk includes mild inclines and slightly uneven terrain. Please contact kristin@riverfields.org with any accessibility questions or requests for accommodations that you may have, and we’ll do our best to help.
