Collaboration

Over the past five decades, River Fields has established strong collaborative relationships with government agencies at the local, state and national level. To insure appropriate growth for our region, we work closely with key agencies such as:

• Metro Planning and Design,
• the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
• the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet,
• the Indiana Transportation Cabinet,
• U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service,
• U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
• Federal Highway Administration,
• Kentuckiana Regional Planning & Development Agency (KIPDA),
• Federal Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and
• the State Historic Preservation Officers of Kentucky and Indiana.

River Fields also works with neighborhood associations in order to defend the rights and best interests of citizens and the natural and cultural resources throughout the river corridor. We provide guidance, input and/or staff expertise to neighborhood associations and community organizations such as the Prospect/Harrods Creek Neighborhood Association, Kosmosdale Preservation Group, Downtown Residents Association, Southwest County Association of Neighborhoods, Concerned Citizens, the West Jefferson County Community Task Force, and small cities throughout the corridor.

River Fields works to insure the application of local, state and federal laws concerning all projects in which we are advocates. We respond with professionalism to governmental agencies whenever proposals require permits or other procedures. To help us undertake our advocacy work, River fields consults with legal experts in land conservation from across the country.
